Years of Halloween Creativity

Every Halloween is an opportunity to bring a new character to life. This collection showcases various costumes I’ve created from scratch over the years, each presenting unique challenges and learning opportunities.

Geralt of Rivia - The Witcher

Complete with weathered armor, dual swords, and battle-worn details. The leather work and armor pieces were all handcrafted to capture the rugged monster hunter aesthetic.

Knightmare Batman

Inspired by the dystopian future Batman from Batman v Superman. Full armor suit constructed from EVA foam with custom weathering and battle damage effects. Helmet was 3D printed, painted and weathered by hand. Lots of sanding was involved!

Minecraft Steve

A playful take on the blocky video game character. Built using cardboard boxes with pixelated paper printed out and glued on each face.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

Classic Jedi robes with custom-sewn tunics and tabards. The lightsaber prop was 3d printed and hand-painted.

Plants vs Zombies Character

A creative interpretation bringing the mobile game to life. Features oversized proportions and vibrant colors true to the game’s whimsical style. Used Pepakura paper crafting with Bondo to harden. The most sanding ever for this one.

The Black Knight

Medieval armor for black knight from Monte Python and the Holy Grail. Crafted from paper and fiberglass then painted with metallic finishes.

Vending Machine

An original concept costume for my company costume contest themed: inanimate objects.

Construction Techniques

Each costume employed different techniques based on the character requirements:

  • Foam crafting for armor pieces
  • Sewing for fabric elements
  • 3D printing for detailed props
  • Electronics for lighting effects
  • Painting and weathering for realistic finishes

The Halloween Tradition

Creating these costumes from scratch has become an annual tradition, combining craftsmanship with creativity to bring beloved characters (and original ideas) to life. Each year presents a new challenge and an opportunity to learn new techniques.
